Marching dancing game

A dancing game that encourages marching.

Materials Required

  • A clear space for marching
  • Some music with a strong beat e.g. drumming music or a familiar children's song like "The Ants Go Marching"

Optional materials

Drums, tapping sticks or kitchen utensils for tapping e.g. spoons

Play Experience Preparation

Prepare the area you wish to march in, make sure it is free from obstacles and trip hazards. - Have music ready to play or drums, instruments ready. - Get your singing voice ready for some fun with your child.

Experience Steps

  1. Introduce your child to the concept of marching.
  2. Play music or drums/instruments and encourage your child to march around the room with you.
  3. Encourage your child to march into the other room and then come back.
  4. Encourage by showing your child how to march fast, slow and side to side.
