  • Safe space on floor
  • Blanket

Play Experience Preparation

Prepare mat for baby to lie on, on floor - Place safe objects and toys close to where your baby will be on the mat/blanket.

Experience Steps

  1. Lay your baby on their tummy.
  2. Get down on your baby's level so that you can make eye contact with your child.
  3. Move items from side to side to encourage baby to lift and turn their head.

What to talk about, or questions to ask during the experience

  • Lots of smiles, and encouraging facial expressions
  • Use sound effects
  • Sing songs
  • Encourage your baby - you can do it!

Build on this...

  • Talk through what your baby is doing 'well done, good reaching'.
  • Your baby will learn to develop more strength in his/her arms and legs and improve gross motor skills.
  • A milestone might be, your baby learns to roll over.
